PROPER TESTING INFORMATION USING THE O.R.P. METERS
IMPORTANT!!!
DO NOT USE TEST STRIPS TO TEST YOUR WATER!
If you would like to personally monitor your drinking water, a "meter and calibration kit" can be purchased for $120.00. The solution in the calibration kit can be used over and over again. Just pour into shot glasses. After use, pour the solution back into the original bottle for reuse.
Please follow the simple instructions located in the box for the calibration kit. Remember, you must calibrate the probe before using it for the first time. Then, calibrate the probe every couple of weeks before using it again.
Please note: You must test purified water with a liquid pH dropper. You can purchase these at any hydroponics store. Test strips do NOT measure low minerals in purified water.
You should not use any solution other than regular bottled water (acidic) to rinse between solutions when calibrating the probe. You must keep the tip of the probe filled with (acidic) regular bottled water when it is being stored. Do NOT use alkaline water such as tap water or our E2 water to rinse or keep tip wet when not in use. Alkaline water will oxidize the probe tip, making it impossible to get accurate readings. Almost all other waters are acidic and are therefore good to use.
If the tip of the probe becomes dry while being stored, you must re-calibrate the meter.
The probe is only good for about 6 months if you are calibrating weekly (26 uses). Your probe may last longer if you don't use it as much. Each new probe for the meter costs approximately $50.00 dollars. The meter itself will last for years.
These probes for measuring (-) ions are sensitive. If your readings seem off, you might want to try calibrating the probe to get a more accurate reading. These meters range from $100.00 dollars for low-end use to thousands of dollars for a high-end technical meter. The meter you have purchased is not intended for clinical accuracy, but will give you a good general reading.
For a more accurate testing, never use test strips! A liquid pH dropper gives you more accurate test results.
